Bari Weiss is a newscaster, writer, and editor from the United States.  She worked at The Wall Street Journal as an op-ed and book review editor (2013-17) and The New York Times as an op-ed staff editor and culture and politics reporter (2017-20). Her decision to leave the latter received a lot of attention, as she chastised the Times for “caving in to the whims of critics on Twitter” and supported free speech.  She’s been a regular contributor to Die Welt since March 1, 2021.

Weiss is a well-known American writer and journalist based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bari is well-known for her contributions to The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Similarly, from 2007 to 2008, Weiss worked as a journalist for the Wall Street Journal as a Bartley Fellow. She went on to work as a New and Political Editor at Tablet for two years, from 2011 to 2013.

After that, from 2013 until 2017, Weiss worked as an assistant book review editor at The Wall Street Journal. In addition, in 2017, Bari began working as a staff editor in The New York Times’ Opinion section. Bari is also well-known in the country for her work as a New York Times opinion columnist.


She wrote an article in March 2021 criticizing the social justice courses at leading private schools. She tweeted in September 2021 about COVID-19 that proof of a negative test is considerably more meaningful than proof of a vaccination, contradicting scientists who say that testing is insufficient and should be deemed temporary to give more time to resolve vaccine hesitancy issues.
