Gray made his professional debut at the Academy of Music when he was just seven years old. He was having so much fun performing in the show that the audience couldn’t tell if he was the main character or not. From then on, he began to show up in the plays on a more regular basis.
Between 2015 and 2016, he starred in three short films. The first was ‘Tortoise,’ a Gary Memi-directed adventure comedy written by Isaac Himmelman.
The following one was ‘The Tale of Four,’ a complex story based on Nina Simone’s ‘Four Women.’ Gray starred alongside Jacob Berger, Daniel G. Cunningham, and Dana Gourrier in the short film. He also starred alongside Jonathan Hansen and Kevin Rodriguez in Gary Memi’s short film ‘Metrocard,’ which also starred Jonathan Hansen and Kevin Rodriguez.

Gray explained how difficult it was for him to embody the persona of a nerdy guy with a cheeky sense of humor in his character ‘Jamal.’ Lauren Iungerich, the show’s creator, assisted him and the other main players, Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Jessica Marie Garcia, Ronni Hawk, and Diego Tinoco, in growing into their roles as the show proceeded.
