Jackie Guerrido Career

Prior to working in the media, Guerrido had indicated interest in a number of occupations. She was hired for the morning program El Vacilon de la Maana (“Good times in the morning”) on WSKQ when a producer overheard her performing a voice-over. Soon after, she accepted a job offer from Miami’s WRMA (106.7).

After a year at “Romance,” Guerrido moved to Miami and started working for the HBC Radio Company. She was given the chance to co-host a radio program where she was in charge of providing traffic and news updates. She later received her own music show at WRTO (98.3).
She also secured a position as a traffic reporter for Telemundo station WSCV in Miami, which gave her the opportunity to work in both radio and television. Guerrido caught the attention of Univision, which then offered her a position as a meteorologist on Al Amanacer de Noticias 23, or “Morning News at Channel 23.” She enrolled to the University of Miami to pursue a meteorology degree.

For a number of years, Guerrido has served as the weatherman on Despierta America (“Wake Up America”), one of the most well-liked television programs among the Hispanic community in the United States. On the afternoon newsmagazine program Primer Impacto (Spanish for “First Impact”) on Univision, she co-predicted the weather with Barbara Bermudo. In order to pursue journalism, she enrolled at the University of Florida.
