Ward started his career as a reporter for The Industry Standard in 1997, covering the nascent Internet industry. Ward joined Popular Science in 2006 as a deputy editor. In 2012, he took over as editor-in-chief from Mark Jannot. He was named one of the “Most Intriguing People in Media” by MIN later that year. He worked as a reporter for Neil DeGrasse Tyson on PBS’s NOVA ScienceNow in 2010 and anchored The Truth About Traffic on Discovery Channel in 2009. He successfully hosted specials for the National Geographic Channel in 2012: American’s Money Vault and Top Secret, both one-hour specials.
Ward left Popular Science in 2013 to join Al Jazeera America, a cable news network formed the same year, as a science and technology reporter.
