Jaylen Nowell’s College Career

He was a member of a five-player recruiting class at the University of Washington that was widely regarded as the best in school history. After Washington coach Lorenzo Romar was sacked, he was the only member of the team that remained dedicated to the school and first-year coach Mike Hopkins. He scored 16.0 points per game as a freshman in 2017–18. After leading the Huskies in scoring and assisting them in winning the Pac-12 regular-season championship the following season, he was voted Player of the Year.
Nowell declared his plan to forego his last two seasons of collegiate eligibility and declare for the 2019 NBA draft after Washington’s loss in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. While playing NCAA basketball for the Washington Huskies, he was named Player of the Year by the Pac-12 Conference.
