John Frederick Dickerson is an American journalist who works as a CBS News correspondent. His latest projects include 60 Minutes and CBS News election specials. He most recently co-hosted CBS This Morning with Norah O’Donnell and Gayle King. He was the CBS Evening News’ temporary anchor until Norah O’Donnell took over in the summer of 2019. He was formerly the anchor of CBS News’s Face the Nation, the political director of CBS News, the top Washington reporter for CBS News, and a political journalist for Slate magazine. He was the longstanding top political correspondent at Slate before presenting Face the Nation. Before joining Slate, Dickerson covered politics at Time magazine for 12 years, serving the last four years as its White House correspondent.

He is the son of Claude Wyatt Dickerson and journalist Nancy. His mother was a radio and television journalist in the United States. He is a 60 MINUTES journalist. Before joining Slate, John worked as a political reporter for Time magazine for 12 years, including four years as its White House correspondent. He hosted Face the Nation three times in 2009 and was named CBS News’ Political Director in November 2011. John featured on The Al Franken Show on Air America Radio every Wednesday until the show ended in 2007. He was also a regular on NPR’s Day to Day. John has been on PBS’s Washington Week as well as the Slate Political Gabfest, a weekly podcast hosted by David Plotz and Emily Bazelon.
