Blakely began his career at CBS News as a researcher and writer for “CBS This Morning” before being promoted to associate producer in 2013.
Blakely worked as a producer for the “CBS Evening News” for two years, covering Ferguson and numerous other big domestic topics, including a series on the opioid problem as seen through the eyes of addicts. Simultaneously, he field produced reports for CBSN, the News Division’s 24-hour digital streaming news service, from Mumbai, India, and Lahore, Pakistan. Prior to that, he worked as a senior producer for “CBS This Morning,” where he was in charge of the crucial first hour of the morning newscast.
