She departed in 2009 and returned in 2014 on a permanent basis as a judge. She worked as a judge until 2017, earning six nominations and one win for Outstanding Choreography with her brother Derek Hough and Tessandra Chavez for the Primetime Emmy Awards.

Hough began her acting career in 2010 with the film Burlesque, followed by prominent roles in films such as Rock of Ages, Footloose, and Safe Haven, among others.

Dancing With The Stars’ Julianne Hough

In 2006, Hough was one of the Million Dollar Dancers on the show “Show Me the Money,” which led to her to “Dancing with the Stars.” She debuted on the show in 2007 as a professional dancer, paired with Olympic gold champion Apolo Ohno on speed skating. Season 4 of the show was won by the two of them. Her victory thrust her into the spotlight, and she became the show’s youngest professional dancer to win.

Julianne was paired with Hélio Castroneves, a three-time Indianapolis 500 champion Brazilian race car driver, in season 5. The two won the tournament on November 27th, 2007.

Julianne also competed with Adam Carolla, a radio host and actor, on season six, but they were eliminated in week four. Hough was paired with Cody Linley, who is best known for his recurring role as Jake Ryan on Hannah Montana, for Season 7. She was transported to the hospital after experiencing health problems during a performance. She had her appendix removed and was replaced by Polish ballroom dancer Edyta liwiska while she recovered. The duo was eventually eliminated in the semifinals.
