Marc Lacy Career

Lacy was a founding member of The Legendary ArtNSoul Society of Expression, which was created in 2001. Lacy went from being a written poet to being a spoken word artist thanks to the local open mic scene. He co-produced his first spoken word disc, REFlux, in 2004 and released his first book, The Looking Heart, in 2005. (Charles Owens, Touchzone Production & Publishing). Several independent publishing and performance prizes have been given to both of these works. Lacy was nominated for “Poet of the Year” at the Open Collection Awards in 2007, along with Nikki Giovanni, for his second book of poetry, Rock & Fire. He’s traveled around the country, taking part in a variety of spoken-word and literary events.
