Moe Shamell (Maurice Shamell) is a licensed meteorologist from the United States working on Good Morning West Tennessee and Midday/Noon at WBBJ TV. In February 2017, he joined the Eyewitness News Weather Team.

Moe slept with his cat Iola during the majority of his quarantine. But after taking a nap one evening, he felt off. After taking a shower, getting dressed, and driving to a neighboring clinic, he understood there was more to it. However, he is pleased to announce that he had to wait until the clot was formally gone before sharing the good news. It took the swelling a week and a half to ultimately recede to the point where it was gone and they were no longer in danger of suffering another stroke.

Moe Shamell Career – WBBJ-TV

Following his 2002 graduation, Moe took a hiatus from education until enrolling at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, once more in 2005. He earned his B.A. in geography with a focus in atmospheric science in 2009. He devoted a lot of time to studying meteorology, taking courses in air pollution as well as synoptic and dynamic meteorology.

Early on, he realized that weather was his vocation. In fact, as a young child, he wanted to be a tree! Of course, he didn’t realize the trees were swaying because of the wind at that point.

When Moe was a Storm Team Spotter for the nearby station WFIE-TV during his primary school years, he had his first experience with weather.
When Moe was a senior in high school, he was in charge of the weather for the weekly news at Evansville North High School. Despite his persistence and enthusiasm for forecasting, Moe eventually made his way to Jackson and WBBJ-TV to join Storm Team Weather.
