Tony Evans Career – Sermons and Church

A Houston-based radio show producer got in touch with Tony Evans in 1973 when he was 24 years old (KHCB). This individual had gotten in touch with Tony, a junior in the Th.M. program at Dallas Theological Seminary, and asked for excellent preaching material to be given away on his program. Tony was suggested by one of his lecturers. Dr. Tony Evans’ public broadcasting ventured forth at this point. Tony spent the following years tirelessly preaching into a microphone for a Houston-unknown audience while being recorded in a small studio on the seminary campus.

In 1976, Evans established the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, with 10 people gathering there.

He also started The Urban Alternative, a national group that uses the preaching and application of the Bible to revive hope and change lives. Every day, more than 1,400 venues in the United States and more than 130 other countries broadcast the Urban Alternative radio program, The Alternative with Dr. Tony Evans.
Evans was a Dallas Mavericks NBA chaplain in the past and has worked as a chaplain for the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

The Urban Alternative was founded in 1981, nearly ten years after Dr. Evans’ radio broadcasts in Houston and Dallas began receiving so many requests for his sermons that Mrs. Lois Evans, the ministry’s co-founder, started satisfying orders. Mrs. Evans organized, developed, and expanded the ministry’s outreach through the use of her business abilities.

At Dallas Theological Seminary, he served on the Board of Incorporated Members and taught homiletics, evangelism, and black church studies.

Tony received a request to deliver a sermon at the annual meeting of the National Religious Broadcasters in 1986. This garnered a great deal of interest and inspired additional ministry growth.

Shortly after that presentation at NRB, Dr. Evans’ show started to play on radio stations. The radio ministry expanded on a national and worldwide scale under the direction of Dr. Lois Evans, Senior Vice-President of TUA. In the English-speaking world, Baylor University ranked Evans as one of the top 12 preachers.

In order to provide Christian leaders who are unable to attend a seminary with the training they need, Evans established the Tony Evans Training Center in 2017. It is an online learning platform.
The first complete Bible commentary and study Bible by an African American were written and published by Evans, who has the distinction of doing so.
Along with that, he is the author of more than 100 books, such as The Tony Evans Study Bible, Oneness Embraced, Kingdom Man, The Kingdom Agenda, and The Tony Evans Bible Commentary.

Tony’s sermons are now heard by millions of people every week thanks to his broadcasts, which air on more than 1,400 radio stations and in more than 130 countries.
